What We’re About
I’m Jay, and here’s why we built this.
I spent over a decade working alongside brilliant NPs who were boxed in by regulations they didn’t write and systems they didn’t choose. Most of them were ready to go out on their own—clinically sharp, emotionally intelligent, wildly underutilized. But the logistics were a mess.
Legal frameworks that vary state to state. MDs who didn’t want to be on paper for someone they didn’t know. Confusing contract terms. Compliance that was either ignored or over-engineered.
We launched Practice Ally to fix that.
We help mid-levels move fast, stay legal, and avoid the kind of shortcuts that lead to expensive audits. Whether you need a physician match, full white-glove setup, or just a push in the right direction, we exist to make independence not just possible, but sustainable.

Who we are
Jay Motley, MD
Co-Founder
Jay is a physician-entrepreneur driven by a simple belief: healthcare should work better for everyone involved.
As the founder of MindWell Health, a growing network of mental health clinics, Jay witnessed a persistent problem firsthand. Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) were struggling with something that should be straightforward—finding the right collaborating physician. The process was slow, unclear, and too often built on uncertain legal ground.
That experience sparked Practice Ally. Jay combines deep clinical insight with strategic business thinking to ensure every collaboration we facilitate is bulletproof—legally sound and genuinely supportive. His mission is clear: eliminate the administrative friction so APPs and MDs can focus entirely on delivering exceptional patient care.

Beth Motley, MD, FACLM
Beth brings a unique perspective to healthcare—shaped by her journey from Team USA figure skater to family medicine physician, Fellow of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, and mother of five. She's someone who understands what it takes to perform under pressure and juggle complex demands while maintaining excellence.
Through years of helping patients reverse chronic illness and reduce medications via lifestyle interventions, Beth has collaborated extensively with Advanced Practice Providers. Time and again, she observed the same frustrating pattern: talented, well-trained APPs constrained by a system that made their job unnecessarily difficult.
This insight drove her to co-found Practice Ally. Whether perfecting a triple axel or balancing the demands of a medical practice with five kids at home, Beth knows that success comes from having the right support systems in place. She envisioned a platform that empowers APPs with the confidence and clarity needed to expand their impact—whether launching independent practices or broadening their scope of care. For Beth, the MD-APP relationship transcends paperwork; it's a genuine partnership centered on patient outcomes and provider success.
